Continuing in our series of Smartphone Film workshops we ran a special training session for Arundel’s Creative Collective Akin this week.

In just a few hours of very hands-on training we had people with varying levels of experience from ‘how do I load an app’ to ‘I’d like to create more graphics overlays for my videos’ feeling confident and capable to create film magic with their phones.

Trainers Josh Kershaw, Connor Whitfield and Jane Mote have years of experience between them of shooting, editing and story-telling with Connor’s extra abilities having worked at phone and computer stores helping answer tech concerns from iphone and android users alike.

Members Martin and Pamela Huxford who run the lighting design business Martin Huxford Studio said it was the ‘most fun and inspiring workshop- ever!”

Pamela added: “As two confirmed technophobes, it was a revelatory experience to see how easily we can put a video together.”

Another trainee, James Stewart, co-owner of the ZimmerStewart gallery in Arundel, said it ‘revitalised and boosted confidence’ in his social media film skills. Within hours of the workshop he’d created and posted his first social media content.

How satisfying. We’re looking forward to seeing lots more results in the days and weeks ahead.
