And we’re nearly off! We’re heading for Winchester this afternoon so we’re ready and waiting for our fellow travellers tomorrow morning. We’re meeting at the statue of King Alfred – official starting point for the South Downs Way.
It’s twenty years since we last did the SDW – Jerry’s 40th – and we were on bicycles then. I’ve dug out the arrival photo from that time. I’ll try to get another one when we arrive later. See what’s changed in 20 years!
Last time I made Jerry a lifelong member of the Society of Sussex Downsmen. Now we’re raising money for the gender neutralised South Downs Society.
and here’s how Jerry and Winchester station look now…
Bit late with writing, but wanted to catch up this morning so when we meet up I get a better sense of what you have been up to. Where does 20 years go !
Love the fact that the SDW is such a big part of your life and enjoyment, remember our picnic up there after struggling up a steep part to break out into the openness with a breeze behind us. Very special.
What a great Birthday plan.
