Two Sussex companies and a windsurfing fiend from West Wittering are transforming the way languages are learnt.

Brighton gaming company West Pier Studio has helped develop a world first – combining the use of gaming technology with language learning to create a unique cross-platform app for uTalk. The app has the biggest range of languages on the market – over 130 of them – and ensures language learning is fun and accessible.

West Pier Studio was commissioned by uTalk’s company founder and Chairman Dick Howeson who splits his time between his London HQ and his family home in West Wittering, West Sussex. Dick is seldom seen on dry land – he’s a keen windsurfer and Dad of three young sailors.

Meanwhile beechtobeach was brought in to create and develop the uTalk brand and devise a marketing strategy to grow the company further.

beechtobeach Director Jane Mote says:
“Sussex skills were at the heart of this project – getting out of London helped to refresh the thinking on how to create a competitive edge for this world-beating language learning company. Some of the business meetings were actually held on the beaches in Brighton and West Wittering which helped the teams work together in a fun and collaborative way.”
