A new Foundation for the Promotion of Documentary Film Making in Africa (FPDFM) has been set up to strengthen factual story-telling on the continent.
Beechtobeach director Jane Mote was asked to join the board of the new Foundation after her keynote speech at the iREP Documentary festival in Lagos earlier this year.
Now work is starting on creating and funding the FPDFM to ensure Documentary becomes a growing genre for a new generation of film-makers.
Jane Mote said:
“It is so important for filmmakers across Africa to be given the skills and connections to be able to tell the stories that matter to them and their countries. I am really hopeful that this internationally-supported Foundation will help make that happen.”
The Foundation is looking for partners who can help with funding, training and archive management.
